Wiccan Fire Spells

Wiccan fire spells can be understood better by first briefly looking at the 5 elements that Wiccans believe are the fundamental powers of the universe. These consist of water, air, earth, the spirit and, of course, fire itself. They're all represented in the Wiccan symbol of the pentagram and these elements combined make up what can be viewed as the life force, the vitality of nature or just the creative energies behind what makes the world go round! Wiccan fire spells seek to gain their potency from the unique energy that comes from fire.

Fire is has many positive uses. It can be used to do away with waste (at the end of harvest for example) and it is also used to symbolise power (the Olympic torch being a symbol known around the globe). Wiccan fire spells can similarly benefit from this force - they can be banishing spells to rid your life of negativity or you may want to fortify areas of your life and need to channel great strength. So bearing in mind how flexible they are, here are some ideas to inspire the writing of your own spells (almost always the most effective way!) and some suggestions to help you on your way.

Banishing Spells

Banishing spells can be used for getting rid of anything negative in your life, from emotions to people to energies that you feel are around you. Wiccan fire spells can be useful here by using the combination of fire and smoke. There are many ways to incorporate this into your spell so get creative. But a simple method is to burn a statement of intent (a written note to outline what you want to happen in the spell) into a bowl or cauldron, burn herbs or use a candle or incense. You will have to experiment to find the right method for getting the right amount of smoke.

But what you will need to include in your Wiccan fire spell is the power to carry the negativity up and away from your life. Its power is two fold here. Firstly, you are literally sending the negativity away from you and out of your life. You are also able to send your desires and wishes up into the atmosphere to be received by the higher powers.

Power Wiccan Fire Spells

To garner the dynamism of fire, you must of course treat it with the utmost respect - fire is not a plaything. It is however a wonderful symbol of power and it can be effective in the most simple ways. Firstly, you may want to have a candle, incense or some herbs burning right at the centre of your altar to place it firmly at the heart of your energies. The power will then trickle out and feed into the rest of your tools and ingredients.

Another way is to include it in a ritual or feature it at the peak of your spell. Simply prepare your cauldron with flammable material that will go up quickly as you bid its aid with the words:

Fire and force

Together are we

Essence of life

I call upon thee

Always thank nature for its assistance and try to conclude and close down the spell soon after.

Wiccan Fire Spells and Gods and Goddesses

While it is not essential to all Wiccans to include Gods or Goddesses in their spells, there are some that you may wish to honour by including them in your ritual. The most popular are Vesta/Hestia, Pele or Brigid. Research your deity before hand though as there are many symbols and materials that are associated with each of them and finding and including them in your spell can intensify it and make it more efficient.

When using a Wiccan fire spell, it is important to always be mindful of the Wiccan rede - harm none. It is believed that all the energy that you send out into the universe will come back to you but 3 times as powerful. If you choose to use this energy for a negative use this is what you will get back. So be wise and have fun!
